There's nothing special about the chat system in Soulframe. It's just making a regular TCP connection to our chat (IRC) servers for you to send and receive messages.
Temporarily use an alternative internet connection
The easiest way to troubleshoot this issue is to temporarily connect to an alternative internet connection in order to play Soulframe (ie. cellphone hotspot or your neighbor/friends' internet).
1. If the chat issues go away while using an alternative internet connection, the problem is more likely an issue with your internet service provider (ISP) or network configuration (like your router or modem):
- Restart Everything (PC, modem, and router) : Unplug or power off your modem, router, and any other connected network devices for at least 30 seconds before turning them back on.
- Check the firewall on your router: If it has an option, whitelist Soulframe to allow any chat traffic through firewalls.
- Contact ISP: Contact your ISP to inquire about potential problems with their service or if they can verify that your connection is working properly.
2. If the chat issue persists or you are unable to test an alternative connection:
- Follow the steps in our Basic Network Troubleshooting Guide.
- Third-Party Software Conflicts: Sometimes, other programs running in the background of your PC can interfere with chat connections as well. You may not even be aware of them, depending on the type of software it is. By temporarily disabling these programs from booting, they can be eliminated as the source of the problem.

- Please reverse the steps above to reset the computer to start normally after testing.
- Update Router Firmware: Ensure your router firmware and network drivers are up to date. Every router is different, so you will need to check for updates according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Don't forget to back up your router's settings first. This will allow you to restore them if anything goes wrong during the update. - Manual Port Forwarding: Warframe uses a TCP connection to our IRC chat servers. Manually opening these ports can help with chat issues.
- Contact ISP: If the issue persists, contact your ISP to inquire about potential problems with their service or if they can verify that your connection is working properly.
